USM
Universiti Sains Malaysia or commonly called USM was established in 1969 as the second university in Malaysia. There are three campuses: one on the island of Penang (Main Campus) where the conference will be held, one in Nibong Tebal (Engineering Campus), and one in the East Coast state of Kelantan (Health Campus). We have an offshore campus in Belgaum, Bangalore, India in collaboration with KLE University offering the Doctor of Medicine (USM) undergraduate degree. USM also recently opened a Global Campus (Kuala Lumpur Campus) located at Kuala Lumpur.
USM was conceptualised as a University in a Garden, balancing the role and function of the university as an institution of higher learning and nature as part of the global ecological setting. The flora, fauna, aquatic elements and other natural creations are dynamically linked in the exploration of knowledge into the nature of existence. The concept is an invitation to value, preserve and nurture the campus ambient as part of the efforts to create and sustain an intellectually conducive setting in order to kindle the spirit and practice of symbiotic co-existence. It is about touching the hearts and minds of each campus citizenry in appreciation of the natural surroundings as a source of inspiration as bequeathed to us by the Creator.
